CHAIR YOGA

Chair yoga offers a gentle and accessible pathway to experience the profound benefits of yoga. Traditional yoga poses are adapted to be practiced while seated or using a chair for support, allowing for gentle, low-impact movements. This practice promotes increased flexibility, strength, and balance, minimizing stress on joints and reducing the risk of injury. The focus on breath and mindfulness techniques inherent in yoga practice helps to alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression and promote relaxation. Additionally, like many yoga classes, chair yoga fosters a sense of community and connection through shared experiences and support.

What to expect

Accessibility:  This class is suitable for seniors, people with limited mobility, those recovering from injuries, or anyone who finds floor-based yoga challenging.

Gentle Movements:  Expect a series of gentle stretches and movements that promote flexibility, strength, and balance. The pace is typically slower and more deliberate than a traditional yoga class.

Emphasis on Breath:  Like all forms of yoga, chair yoga incorporates breathwork (pranayama) to enhance relaxation and mindfulness to calm the mind and body. Connecting the mind and body with the breath is also a regular practice.

Improved Flexibility and Strength:  The class will focus on increasing range of motion in joints, and also building strength in muscles.
