In nature, winter is a time of dormancy. Everything rests, goes underground, and conserves energy. It’s a time of Yin—stillness, darkness, and quiet. The seeds of intention are your goals, desires, wishes, and directions for the coming year. They are the changes you wish to manifest or the qualities you wish to cultivate (like patience, creativity, or courage). These intentions aren't something you are actively trying to do right now (that would be Yang energy). Instead, they are felt and held in your deepest self, often discovered during times of quiet reflection, such as during a long Yin pose. This practice is an invitation to use this quiet time to gently hold and believe in the positive changes you want to bring forth while deeply hydrating the joints, releasing deep tension and calming the nervous system.
