Introducing Reiki at Path of OM

I am thrilled to announce that I am now offering Reiki right here at the studio. Reiki is a powerful, non-invasive tool to help your body heal from the inside out. After receiving Reiki treatments to support my own healing journey, I took the training myself as I was so intrigued by the benefits of the sessions. I completed my level II training in 2021. I have continued to use Reiki to help family and friends, myself and my pets. I am now offering Reiki to this amazing community as a complementary method of healing / relaxation / self-care.

What is Reiki?

Think of Reiki as a nervous system reset. It’s a Japanese technique that uses light, systematic touch (or hovering hands) to shift your body out of "stressed" mode and into a state of deep, restorative recovery.

The practitioner (that’s me!) uses light touch to help shift your body out of stress mode and into a state of deep recovery. It’s actually backed by some interesting science regarding bio-magnetic frequencies that trigger physical healing. It’s become so effective for pain and anxiety management that hospitals actually use it as a complementary treatment alongside standard medicine in Canada, the US, the UK and Europe. Think of it like a deep tissue massage for your stress levels, but without the pressure—you just come out feeling incredibly recharged and clear-headed.

In Canada, the use of Reiki in hospitals is part of a growing movement toward Integrative Medicine—combining standard medical treatments with evidence-based complementary therapies. While it is not yet in every hospital, Reiki is a staple in palliative care, oncology and specialized wellness clinics affiliated with major healthcare networks (including The Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa Holistic Health Centre, and The Centre for Health Innovation.)

Because Reiki helps move the body from a "stressed" state to a "recovery" state, it is particularly effective for conditions exacerbated by tension and inflammation. Since "just stop being stressed" is easier said than done, the goal is to signal to your nervous system that it is safe to prioritize repair. This is where practices like Reiki, meditation, deep breathing, and restorative yoga provide real value—they act as a "switch" to move the body from defense to repair.
